Would Misunderstanding Rulings On Oaths be One of the Necessarily Known Matters Every Muslim Should Know?

Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Question

Would misunderstanding rulings on oaths be one of the necessarily known matters every Muslim should know?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question.

No, oaths are not one of the necessarily known matters. Therefore, misunderstanding whether you have uttered an oath will not fall into this. Only when you deny oath as a Quranic ruling will one be sinful, which is not the case with yourself

Don’t Worry

You do not need to worry about being held accountable for misunderstanding the oath’s rulings. Take this as final advice and guidance, and do not worry about any future oath-related issues. Improve your relationship with Allah Most His, following His commands and the sunna of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) and His creation, and it will be an act of worship.

May Allah facilitate your understanding and healing and strengthen your faith, knowledge, and practice. Amin.
