This podcast is based on al-Fawa’id al-Mukhtarah, one of the seminal works of the great scholar al-Habib Zayn bin Sumayt. The book contains advice on a wide range of subjects that are relevant to daily life, drawing on examples from the Haba’ib from Hadramout. We will be exploring this advice within the context of Muslims living in the West, with the aim of deriving guidance from it on ways to deal with modern challenges.

In this podcast, Shaykh Abdurragmaan Khan starts by explaining what is divine decree and destiny. How Allah Most High has pre-ordained everything in existence, and everything happens by the will of Allah.

Shaykh Abdurragmaan explains how it is Allah who ultimately gives and forgives and things only happen through Allah Most High. Everything that happens in our lives whether it makes us happy or sad only happens by the decree of Allah.

Shaykh Abdurragmaan gives an important counsel too close, and that is that one should be pleased with every state one is in for it was decreed by Allah. Rather one should turn to Allah in it and strive to be patient and steadfast.
