Ibrahim was given many tests through his son Ismal’il. First, he was told to take him and Hajr and leave them in the valley where he would eventually build the Ka’ba. Hajar is faced with the test of trust in Allah after being left there alone with her infant. He himself is part of another great test for Ibrahim, who is commanded to sacrifice his only child when he gets older.
