In the Spiritual Counsel podcast, SeekersGuidance founder Shaykh Faraz Rabbani covers great texts from the rich Islamic spiritual tradition on how to turn to Allah, to cultivate spiritual presence, acquire Prophetic character, and attain true virtue.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave a tremendous amount of importance to the health of our hearts. Shaykh Faraz Rabbani starts reading and explaining hadiths from the Chapter on Matters That Soften the Heart from the hadith compilation, Mishkat al-Masabih, compiled by Muḥammad ibn Abdullah Khatib al-Tabrizi (d. 741 AH).
In this episode, Shaykh Faraz covers the sixth and seventh hadiths from the Chapter on Matters That Soften the Heart from the hadith compilation, Mishkat al-Masabih, compiled by Muḥammad ibn Abdullah Khatib al-Tabrizi (d. 741 AH). The sixth hadith informs us about the things that veil hell and heaven. “Hell is veiled by desires, and Heaven is veiled by disliked matters.” Shaykh Faraz explains that the believer must look to the reality of matters, and not be deluded by how matters may falsely appear. The seventh hadith tells us about the loss of the slave of this world. Shaykh Faraz highlights the Prophet’s warning (peace and blessings be upon him), from being busied with amassing the fleeting wealth of this world and not having concern for others.
