In the Spiritual Counsel podcast, SeekersGuidance founder Shaykh Faraz Rabbani covers great texts from the rich Islamic spiritual tradition on how to turn to Allah, to cultivate spiritual presence, acquire Prophetic character, and attain true virtue.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave a tremendous amount of importance to the health of our hearts. Shaykh Faraz Rabbani starts reading and explaining hadiths from the Chapter on Matters That Soften the Heart from the hadith compilation, Mishkat al-Masabih, compiled by Muḥammad ibn Abdullah Khatib al-Tabrizi (d. 741 AH)
In this episode, Shaykh Faraz covers the sixteenth hadith from the Chapter on Matters That Soften the Heart from the hadith compilation, Mishkat al-Masabih, compiled by Muḥammad ibn Abdullah Khatib al-Tabrizi (d. 741 AH).
The sixteenth hadith informs us that true wealth is not in possessions, rather it is wealth of spirit. The seventeenth hadith highlights five key prophetic advices: (1) guard yourself from the prohibited, and you will be the most worshipful of people (2) be content with what God has apportioned for you, and you will be the wealthiest of people (3) be excellent to your neighbor, and you will be a believer (4) love for people what you love for yourself, and then you will be a Muslim (5) and don’t laugh out loud excessively, for laughing out loud excessively causes hearts to die.
