20- People Have Virtue Over Another by Their Fearful Awareness of Allah (Taqwa)– Spiritual Counsel: Wisdom on Turning to God from the Islamic Tradition -Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

In this episode, Shaykh Faraz explains the forty-fourth and forty-fifth hadiths from the Chapter on Matters That Soften the Heart from the hadith compilation, Mishkat al-Masabih, compiled by Muḥammad ibn Abdullah Khatib al-Tabrizi (d. 741 AH). The forty-fourth hadith highlights that people have virtue over each other only by taqwa. One is not better than others by race (or other physical qualities), rather it is taqwa that distinguishes them in scales of God. The forty- fifth hadith informs us of the fruits and benefits of having the quality of renunciation (zuhd) in this world. “No one has renunciation in this world except that Allah causes wisdom to sprout in their hearts and be expressed on their tongues. And Allah will grant them the insight of the world’s blemishes and the causes of its harms and its cure.” Shaykh Faraz gives us key counsels on how to make choices in life, and manage our time to make the most of it. He calls everyone to always consider what is pleasing to Allah in all of our choices and actions.
